TORONTO, Ont. – The total cost of ground transportation for Canadian shippers went down 3.4% in July from June according to the results published by the Canadian General Freight Index.
The Base Rate Index also decreased by 3.2 when compared to June 2014 and average fuel surcharges remained relatively unchanged (21.59% in July versus 21.57% in June).
“The decline in July was felt in all categories, however Domestic Truckload, Domestic LTL and Cross Border LTL saw the largest declines.” said Doug Payne, president & COO, Nulogx. “Despite the decrease this month ,the total cost of freight remains 3.5 % above last year at this time.”
